Mmm… cheesy

Posted by mattieliz on January 13, 2009

The other night I was making enchiladas for dinner with a friend. As she was grating the cheese, she said something that got me thinking: “What would we do without cheese?” I stopped and thought, what would we do without cheese?! It’s good on almost anything. Nachos, pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches, mac n’ cheese, baked potatoes…the possibilities are endless! And the kinds of cheese are endless too. Cheddar, mozarella, ricotta, pepperjack, swiss, american and so many more! It can even be good for you, in moderation that is.

If you eat too much cheese (especially the processed kind), the fat in the product counts as part of the discretionary calorie allowance.

Is cheese good for your teeth? According to, different kinds of cheeses can help prevent tooth decay, thanks to the calcium, phosphorus and other components in cheese.

How much is a serving of cheese? 1 1/2 ounces low-fat or fat-free cheese is recommended by the American Heart Association.
