Support: George W. Bush; words of scripture (biblical); the risk-takers, doers, and makers of things; America’s founding fathers; George Washington.

Obama first started his address in thanking George Bush for his services as the 43rd president. Obama then stated a biblical scripture, meaning that we all need to set aside our differences as Americans and work together to achieve our goals. I thought is was moving to hear him say a thanks to the “risk-takers, doers, and makers of things,” meaning America would not be what it is today if we didn’t have those types of people. At the end of his speech, he mentioned our nation’s founding fathers and of course, George Washington, the first president of the United States, because he wanted to say that we all have the same history and we might not be here without them.

Source Analysis: As I searched the internet for Obama’s inaugural speech, it was not difficult to find–the transcript or video. In fact, every major network (cnn, foxnews, msnbc, abc, etc.) had it readily available. I chose CNN because it is a very reliable source.

Usefulness: Obviously this speech was planned to go out to every single person in our nation so the topics Barack Obama mentioned were somewhat vague. He did touch on a few topics, however, such as costly health care, job loss, failure of schools, and the fear of our planet.
