Michael Moore, director of Sicko; Bill Maher, host of HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher”; Health Affairs, published two studies in 2004 linking to universal health coverage that Michael Moore covered in the documentary;  The New England Journal of Medicine, a 2003 article about absolute quality versus comparitive quality of health care; The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, a book lead by real reforms in the meat packing industry over 100 years ago; Fox News, commented on the film as “brilliant and uplifting”;, multimedia clip used on youtube.

Audience and Agenda: Youtube was founded in February 2005 and is the leader in online video; it is also the premier destination to watch and share videos. Youtube recieved funding from Sequoia Capital in November 2005 and was officially launched one month later. Within a year of youtube’s launch, Google Inc. purchased the company and has been successful ever since. Partnership deals with youtube include: CBS, BBC, Sony Music Group, Warner Music Group, The Sundance Channel, NBA, and so many more.

Usefulness: Michael Moore is a filmmaker known to make controversial documentaries. He does, however, persuade the audience to agree with his thinking. Other popular documentaries and films he has done in the past are: “Bowling for Columbine”, “Farenheit 9/11”, and “This Divided State.” This latest film was created to make Americans realize how much this country needs affordable health care and how the health insurance industry is taking advantage of us.
